What Is Keeping You From Accomplishing Your 2017 Goals

2017 marketing goal check-in

About six or seventh months ago you started making plans for 2017 based on your 2016 performance.

  • Where did you miss the mark?
  • What did you do really well?
  • What’s something new you want to try?

These were probably all questions you came up in your planning meetings and you and your team searched and found answers to them in hopes that 2017 would push your team and drive even better results.

But now, going into the fifth month of the year how do you feel?

Where you overambitious?

Maybe you are having trouble communicating your results?

Has the new channel you invested in yielded the results you wanted? Or are you afraid you are wasting money?

What do you do from there? You are five months in so it is time for a gut-check. Below we have two ways you can strengthen, and maybe even make a change to your plan.

Stop Gathering

Are you still spending time logging in and out of different social and web platforms, digging for results?  To accomplish goals in 2017 you can’t still be wasting time hunting for metrics, you need to be analyzing them.

This why having a dashboard that gathers these numbers for you and visualizes results and not to mention makes reporting on these things a breeze is a must! When all you have to do is log into one dashboard to look at everything your marketing team is doing you will be able to see how close (or far) you are from achieving your goals. When you don’t have a dashboard that does it all, you could be spending nearly half of your month looking for these metrics and that is not why you became a marketer.

When you and your team has access to a dashboard you are able to:

  1. Quickly communicate priorities for the day, week and even month.
  2. Easily answer any of those so how’s it going questions coming in from your peers in other departments and even your boss or other C-Level Executives.
  3. Access all parts of your marketing strategy in one location so you can compare results.

When you automate this part of your marketing process you will start to accomplish those goals you set out for just five short months ago and have a place to document your journey!

Focus On Conversions

It’s easy for marketers to get caught up in clicks, views, and shares but what is the real role your marketing is playing? Everything you are doing is in hopes that you get noticed by your buyer, that they jump in for the journey that ends with a purchase. The clicks, shares, and views are what get you to the end goal but they are not the most important thing.

You need to be able to communicate the role marketing plays in the buyers’ journey which means talking about leads, sales, and ROI. Drop the marketing talk- no one understands it but you! Instead, think:

How has the content you produce impacted the overall business?

When you start to look at marketing like this you will see (and so will others) just how important the process is.

Wrap It Up

You are five months in but you have seven months to go. You can do a lot with 213 days but you have to make sure you and your team are set up for success.

How are you going to use those days?

Hopefully not by logging in and out of social accounts all day to gather day and not by talking in terms of likes and snaps when it comes to the impact your team is making.

We offered two simple but very doable tips to completely alter how you will achieve your 2017 goals. We can’t wait to hear what happens!
